I remember wanting this game so bad, but had to wait weeks after its release to show up on shelves in my small ass town. When I did get my hands on a copy I played the shit out of it. Dragon Quest 8 is one of those games that wows you at the beggining and slowly loses steam and only picks itself back up very few times. What should you know about Dragon Quest 8 before jumping in? Well, first off, the game is WAY overrated. It's not that great of an RPG, and contrary to what you may have heard, this game is not for everyone. The game has insane grinding points allthroughout your adventure, and it's insanely text heavy.
Dragon Quest 8 is like a big rock. It's built very solid, so solid that everything's solid. There are no hollow points to be found anywhere. The story is great, the battle system is dead on balls accurate, the difficulty isn't a pushover, the dungeons are done just right, the world is fucking HUGE, the voice acting is spot-on, and hell I can keep going on forever! What's there to complain about then? Well, I've already gone over the big spots of discussion. A big problem though is money. These damn monsters never give you enough! Wepons and Armor are way expensive. The kicker is that you need these weps because the bosses are seriously tough! Something strange though is that the final boss is downright easy! I didn't die against him folks, and you know what, I died ALOT in this game.
So what should you do? Buy this game or not? I say, if you love rpgs (like me) but it. Also if you love a good story and dont mind blowing away 60+ hours, then give it a shot, it's pretty good. Everyone else, stay FAR away, the game is way to tedius for the average gamer and you'll probably quit playing it after 15-20hrs of gameplay.

Why a 8/10?
While solid, Dragon Quest 8 sticks to the same forumla for such a long time that it just gets old after a while. And there is way to much reading to be done! But, the storline was pretty gripping sometimes...
