Boy, did I have high hopes for Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. I'm not saying that the game is bad, but it doesn't even hold a candle to Metroid Prime. Basically, Metroid Prime 2 takes place not to long after the events in the first game, dont worry though, you dont have to have played the original to get this game, it basically goes off on its own little tangent. This time, you land on a new planet, and yes, your ship doesn't crash, you land just fine. Once there, you get dragged into something completely insane.
Let me put it to you guys this way. MP2 start out great. Everything feels familiar and the addition of some new moves is greatly appreciated, but there's something about this game, something that just weighs it down. You see, this game has 2 worlds. No, not planets. First there's the light world, which is where everything is normal, kinda like in Metroid Prime. Then there's the Dark World. It's basically the same world, with slight area modifications, and a big bag of frustration to go along with it. In this dark world there are light bubbles, these are safe to stand in, step outside of each bubble and your life starts to deplete. It adds a sense of tediusness, and frustration to the game that shouldn't be there. Later in the game you become unvulnerable to the dark world, but that's basically right at the end. What the game does good though is stay true to the original. All the same puzzle solving is here, with new types of areas, a pretty good soundtrack, and a spiffed up interface that makes things feel fresh, which is much needed.

While it is a good game, it's nowhere as good as the original. But seriously, it's good, pick it up and you'll be glad you did. It's a great game.

These things that hang from the ceiling with two big ass legs.
Hardest Boss
Man, the final boss was tough, it would've been harder if they didn't give you a checkpoint.
Approximate Complete Time
15-20hrs on your first play through.
Things You Should Know
You have to find these shit-ass keys, similar to the Chozo Artifacts. It sucks.

Why a 8/10?
Good game, darker than the original, but everything worked out. The multiplayer is pretty neat as well.
